Airline Transport Pilot Certification

The Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certification is the highest license a pilot can obtain and is the qualification that allows the holder to act as Pilot in Command. If you want to become a professional pilot, commander of a multi-crew aircraft with a maximum gross weight of 12,500 pounds or more, this is a requirement.

Prerequisite: FAA Commercial Pilot Helicopter License and an Instrument Rating {be at least 23 years of age (21 years of age for a restricted ATP)} plus 1,200 hours of total time as a pilot that includes 1) 500 hours of cross-country flight time, 2) 100 hours of night flight time, of which 15 must be in a helicopter, 3) 200 hours of flight time in helicopters and at least 75 hours as PIC in accordance with 14 CFR 61.161 (a).
